El Topia Washington is home to this grand ol grain elevator and silo but there is a story to how the town got its name. Allegedly many many years ago there was a Scottish railroad foreman who upon seeing an avalanche caused by workers remarked in his thick accent that when the powers that be find out what had happened "there was going to be hell to pay!" Over the years that foreboding prose morphed into the towns current name El Topia! I just love this story and I fell in love instantly with the facility. What a joy it was to paint!
